La Tierra Mia: A Chicano Park Story
2020 has brought a plethora of changes, yet what emerged was a crystalized energy of wanting to do something good for where I came from.
With that in mind, I developed an archive photography book of my hometown landmark Chicano Park. La Tierra Mia: A Chicano Park Story catalogs a collection of memories through photos and notes from contributors who have shared a connection to the park over the past 50 years. All profits from the first run were directed to the Chicano Park Steering Committee.
The book was launched with an event in San Diego, which maintained as an installation for a month, highlighting photography featured in the book. The first run of the book sold out in just over a month.
I’m currently working on a 2nd edition, to continue highlighting the arts of where I was raised.
